Paper pattern cost: USD 40~60/Style (exact price according to garment difficulty level)

because of the global downturn in fashion at the moment, things are very tough for a new designer starting out.
i would suggest that you start out locally.
gain a stong following in your town before taking on manhattan.
get an audience with the local buyers for your larger department stores in your area..then you can branch out.
keep your dream.
start out on a small scale...
work your way upward & onward from there.
jessica simpson does not design the clothing/shoes etc..she has a team doing that for her.
what her clothing line represents is a tax dodge and money making...which is fine..but it won't last. it's strictly for now.
the designers who do last in this industry..have fashion in their blood.
it's who and what they are 24/7.
michael kors started out very small..hand delivering the orders to the stores.
he drove his grandmothers mercedes benz as his delivery truck.
he had small success in the beginning and sort of faded away.
he revamped his line..and got new backers to invest more money and his styles have taken off in recent years. but remember he started out in the 1980's.
