  • I have a bachelor in Arts- majored in Sociology. A diploma in fashion designing, (both from India). That is why I thought getting a masters would be a good option, but I am looking for a job In MO, if nothing turns up then I plan to do the masters in merchandising online, since there is no masters been offered nearby.
I wanted opinion on the recognition of an online masters in merchandising form state university.
    This is their website http://www.gpidea.org/prospective/merchandising/meProgram.html
The course is quite expensive 415 $ per credit.

Also wanted to know if anyone out there has done a similar masters online. Please share your experiences.
  • To answer your question, I think education is very important. HOWEVER, it may be a good idea for you to find employment before going for your masters.

You already have a bachelors in fashion design, so you are already ahead of many other people in the fashion industry.

Further education is great, but earning money is also important. My suggestion is get your foot in the door at a good fashion company and take classes at night or the weekends to earn your masters.

Please note that I am NOT a guidance counselor and I may not be the best person to be answering your question. You sound like an intelligent person and you will know the proper decision for you. Use your own judgement and you will be fine.. Good luck.
  • Welcome to the Fashion Industry Network.. I see that you have had much "educational" experience in fashion, but do not yet have actual experience working at a fashion company. Have you been looking for employment? Or do you prefer to finish up with your masters first? If you are looking for employment, let me know and I will let you know my job websites that you can use to search for a job.

If you have any questions about this fashion network, please let me know.
