You thoughts on Ethical Fashion

Do people really care about ethical fashion as much as the media, etc say? and if so, what is the most important factor in ethics for fashion? the environment, people? which is more important? What are the main issues with fashion at the moment? This is for my final year dissertation. Thoughts will be much appreciated :)
