My girlfriend, in the Philippines, just won a big fashion design contest in her Province of Nueva Ecija.

I want to help as much as I can. I have set up some web stuff (www.Facebook.com/UleFashion and www.UleFashion.com) and bought her a Serger.

Now I want to get her some real tools that will help her design.

She has an industrial Brother sewing machine, a portable Singer and the Brother Serger 1034D I bought her last year.

Other than that she has a dress form, pair of scissors, pins and some tailor's chalk.

What kind of tools do you find make designing/constructing easier?  I am a computer guy, so my first inclination is to get her software.  Anybody have good experience with any?

What tools do you find "necessary" and what are just make things easier?

Big or small I would love to hear what I should get her to make her job easier.  She doesn't have access to a lot out there so any ideas for a non-designer would be much appreciated.

She also does a lot of crystal embelishment that she does manually by hand.  I have notice there are a lot of hot fix crystals that look great, but they're usually under the t-shirt section.  Is there a problem putting these on gowns? (I will post this as a seperate question as well)

Thank you in advance!
