LIFE after competing on a reality TV show can be rough. You’re no longer the talk of the town, not appearing on the back of buses or flooding social media.
Once the series wraps, it’s often only a matter of time before the VIP invitations cease and fans start to forget your name.
But for Helena and Vikki Moursellas, they’re still at the top of their game 12 months after winning hearts on Seven’s My Kitchen Rules and they’re working harder than ever.
The twins, fan favourites on last season’s show, launched their own cookbook, Taking You Home, earlier this year. They’re also just weeks away from opening their first restaurant. But it’s been no walk in the park, Vikki assures.
“Coming out of a reality TV show is really hard, people try to do something and end up fading away,” the 26-year-old told news.com.au.
“We went into MKR because food is our life and food is a dream of ours. The book came out and we said ‘let’s find a space and let’s do a restaurant.’”
Having relocated from Melbourne, the sisters are on the brink of opening Twofold at the Civic Hotel on Pitt Street in Sydney’s CBD. The eatery will serve up modern Australian food with a couple of Greek dishes inspired by the ladies’ cookbook.
