Earlier, only a traditional saree was considered as auspicious attire for Indian weddings, but now Indian wedding clothes have undergone a huge change. Till a few decades back, a bride would wear a nice Kanjeevaram or a Benarasi silk saree with gold jewelry. But now, it's all about designer wear sarees, salwar kameez with a heavily embroidered dupatta draped stylishly, scintillating kundan jewelry sets, and grand decorations. Nowadays, designer wear stylish wedding lehenga cholis are preferred wedding wear attire by young girls.
However, till date, many brides still prefer to wear the traditional sari as their wedding dress, beautified with kundan jewelry sets. Luxurious fabric, unique designs, and use of sparkling elements like stones, sequins, thread, and appliqué add a distinguished touch to Indian sarees. Variations in cuts and patterns of blouses have added freshness to this traditional attire. Also, blouses with scooped backs, strings, mirror work, thread embroidery and zari work are very popular, and hence are treated as an accessory to complement the saree.
