When people are new to the fashion industry, should they “Intern” at a fashion company?

Is interning (working for FREE) worth it?

My personal opinion, is that you can work for a low salary to learn the ropes, but try to avoid working for free (unless that company “guarantees” you employment for after an internship program is completed).

Is interning beneficial to the person that is the intern or is only beneficial to the fashion company that is receiving an employee at no expense?

I know from previous discussions that MANY people believe that interning is a positive experience and beneficial to the intern.

What is your opinion on fashion career internships ???
