Can you be too old to start in Fashion Design?

I have always dreamed of working in fashion. My earliest memories include drawing dresses and dressing my barbie dolls. The problem is that I have not had the opportunity to study fashion. I went down a complete different path in college. Now I'm a few years away from entering my late 20's and I'm afraid that it's too late. Is it? How old is too old when it comes to entering the fashion industry? Most of the designers I look up to started very young. Do you guys have any suggestions?
