Which came first...the fashion school or the fashion company?

What do you think? I am starting my own fashion company as we speak. Being that I am about to receive a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, I would just like to know what other thought about the idea/plan to start a clothing company before actually receiving the proper skill and knowledge needed to take the steps to own and operating my own company. I do plan to attend SCAD as soon as Spring 09 for a Masters in fashion design. Is there any advice anyone may have about this situation, I would really love to know what everyone thinks?
