Short Shorts for men

Is this really an trend we need? Looking at mens collections from most designers for spring/summer 2009, shorts that barely cover a mans thighs look like the norm. And like I said on my own blog last week; I'm sorry but I don't want to see a mans thighs when he's wearing shorts (ever!). Shorts that hit your knee are fine with me, but once you move too far above the magic limit of the mans knees, it just looks plain nasty. What are your opinions on this matter? Is it OK or a big No No
