"Jockey International, Inc., and Gerber Childrenswear, Inc., a division of Kellwood Company, have entered into a licensing agreement. Effective immediately, Gerber Childrenswear, Inc. will begin the design, production and distribution of Jockey-branded underwear, sleepwear and thermalwear for infant, toddler and children's apparel." Jockey in the past designed, produced and distributed underwear to the childrenswear market. Gerber Childrenswear in the past designed, produced and distributed underwear to the childrenswear market. What made Jockey wake up one morning and determine that Gerber Childrenswear has been doing a better job of it? Did Jockey determine that licensing the brand to another would provide them with "more" profit then if they continued to market the brand on their own? Will Jockey and Kellwood form other licensing agreement or other sorts of business ties in the future???
