am a designer who loves vintage and decorative, ornamental clothing. I am implementing that in my line Gitana Marie, see some of this year's styles @ www.gitanafashions.com and would love opinions. Gitana means gipsy girl in french and wanted to represent a modern, contemporary gipsy girl. A gipsy is very feminine and loves nature so I used earth tones and flowers, furs and feathers etc. To express feminine side I use lace, frills, nets, sheer materials etc.
Our 2009 line is ready to be launched and will be in major fashion shows in US. We will share the pictures shortly in our new website www.mygitana.com, currently under construction.
Love you all,
Maria

Thank you for the comments you left for me on my page. I am glad that you are happy with the site. If you have not done so, you can also check out my site called Apparel Search. That site has even more apparel industry info then this site. The technical, boring side of fashion... Where to find fabric, buttons, zippers, pattern makers etc.

By the way, I see below on your comment wall that you left a message for someone on your own message page. To reply to someone elses board, you need to click the link to "comment back". That would bring you to the page of the person that left you a message so that you can reply to them on their comment wall. It takes a while to get use to...

I understand...as I'm somewhat in a similar position.
I have designed a small (cut/sew) line of mens and woman's yoga/life style activewear pieces. Have done all the fittings and have sent graded specs to factory in India...just waiting to see corrected sample + showroom samples to send to buyers (when I find them). I recently went to L.A. for a few days and felt the pieces I have designed would do really well out there so now I'm looking for independent showrooms and sales reps in L.A.
Since goods are being produced in India I need to find a freight forewarder and customs broker...plus a warehouse to store the cartons when the goods come in as we want it to be shipped by boat instead of air....less money but longer to get here (1month)...The market is very diversified and it's just finding your "niche".
Cheers.

Welcome to the fashion industry network. Good luck with exploring different areas of fashion. It is always a good idea to seek new experience (and hopefully with higher pay). You may want to check out my other site called the Fashion Job Search.

If you have any questions about this network, please let me know.

When you have a chance, please add an image to your profile page. It does not have to be a picture of you, just something fashionable. Possibly you can add one of the sweaters that you have designed.
