  • Hi Emma,

I and a colleague of mine are about to release a global fashion website that will work as a platform for fashion designers. They will be able to sell their own designed clothes on either an auction or buy now basis. They can also choose to just show case their clothes if they want to.

It will be a community for fashion interested people and I am wondering if you would be interested in some kind of collaboration. We are lookinf for someone who would like to write for our site - to pubish news and articles from now and then. We can look at a solution that involves that we help eachother to market our sites as well.

Please le me know if you want me to tell you more about our site and a potential collaboration.

    Kind regards,
    Joni

  • Hello Emma

I've just read your profile - if you get chance you might want to check out http:///www.tribesmart.com - it's a brand new social shopping/product discovery site.

We are looking for people to add interesting products (easily done via a browser button) and add reviews comments and blog posts.

We're not in fashion, we run a web agency - however we think this website could be a good platform for new designers, brands, stylists and writers to build their profile.

There is also a facebook widget, which feeds products to a facebook tab on your profile page if you choose to use it. It means you can add products and build awareness as well as invite friends to comment on your posts.

Anyway that's enough from me and good luck.

    Thanks

    Wayne
  • Hi Emma,

    Hope you are well.

I work at the Business & IP Centre at the British Library in London. We support entrepreneurs from the first spark of inspiration to successfully setting up businesses.

We are holding an eco-fashion event on 17 September 2008, see below for details. You can hear from three successful ethical fashion experts, ask questions, network with fellow fashion entrepreneurs and there will be a fashion show.

It could be a great opportunity for you to meet potential partners, please visit our website or get in touch if you'd like any more information.

    Best,

    Melissa

Today, with the global fashion industry facing questions about its social and environmental impact, a new generation of British fashion entrepreneurs and designers is breaking new ground by marrying cutting-edge design and ethical objectives.

As part of London Design Festival the British Library is bringing together a panel of pioneering design and fashion entrepreneurs to talk about the new age of 'eco-fashion', their own entrepreneurial careers and achievements, and building the next generation of sustainable brands. The audience will have the opportunity to learn from the panel's experience and put their questions to our entrepreneurs.

    Your 'eco-fashion' pioneers:

Jen Ruppert is the founder of eco-fashion company Revamp. Drawing on over 15 years experience in the fashion industry, Jen combined fashion know-how with networking skills to launch Revamp, sourcing emerging talent to create trendy, sustainable and environmentally-friendly clothing. Most recently, Revamp designed a fashion range for Cancer Research UK.

Ed Gillespie is creative director and co-founder of communications agency Futerra, which is probably the only UK agency to focus solely on sustainability. Futerra have launched 'Swishing' (super glam clothes swapping parties – www.swishing.org) and are co-creators and founding partners of this years Re:Fashion Awards (www.refashionawards.org).

Safia Minney is founder and director of Fair Trade and environmental fashion and lifestyle label People Tree. Safia has turned a life-long interest in environmental, trade and social justice issues from a lifestyle into a Fair Trade business. In 2006, Safia was named Social Entrepreneur of the Year in the Edge Upstart Awards.
  • Emma - after you receive a message on your comment wall, you will need to click the link to "comment back" under the message. This will bring you to the other persons comment wall where you can leave a reply to their comments. Below I have noticed that you have left messages for other people on your own comment board. Most likely they would not see that message. Try the comment back link. Don't worry, we are all still learning the site.. After you get the hang of it, it is easy. Regarding your questions to me, I am really not sure how much traffic the Fashion Week Photos site receives. In all honesty, I do not track stats on that site. If you type "fashion week photos" in google it comes up at the top of the list. That is all that matters to me... Anyway, it certainly can not hurt to add photos on this site, but that is entirely up to you. After you shows, just let me know at that point.
  • The UK retail market is also changing but we are seeing a growing interest in ethical fashion, organic cotton, fair trade ranges etc, especially with the high street stores. I think there are so many high street stores all selling similar items, that as the market drops they are going to need to get creative to compete in the market. The prediction is for a lot more little boutiques to pop up on the UK high streets in the next few years, but also remember the prediction for 40% of all retail spend to be done online by 2012 - you should look into this in the US as if its only four years away now is a great time to get into this market.

Have you researched where else you might want to look at expanding?

    Emma.
  • Business is aweful in the US. Retail market is down...which means consumers become more concerned with price and less concerned with the environment. I had researched and had put together a line of MILK sweaters... but this is now on hold for the US market.

Besides Vietnam and the US, Im hoping to expand elsewhere.
