About Me ...
I am a Marketing graduate of Mercer University. I love the fashion and style industry, and would love to work for a magazine or other published fashion media. I am interested in all areas of fashion from design to personal shopping to advertising to event planning; I want to learn about it all! I would love any opportunities or suggestions you could give me on how to get started!

What is hot in fashion this year?
One of this year's hottest trends is the jewel-tone. From platform peep-toe pumps in magenta to stove pipe jeans in canary yellow, these bright colors have injected a playfulness back into the fashion industry. One of my favorite uses of jewel-tones are with classic pieces. Take the sophisticated lines of a trench coat and turn it emerald green and WHAM! You've got yourself a reinvented yet timelessly chic wardrobe addition.

Editor’s Feature: Organizing Your Closet

Ok, so I may not be the neatest person in the world, but when it comes to my closet I am more than a little obsessive compulsive. My clothes are all organized by type (blouses, skirts, pants, etc), then length (sleeveless, short sleeve, long sleeve, etc). While my clothing is pretty well taken care of, there never seems to be enough room for my shoes and handbags to be stored properly. I want a way to organize my handbags so they aren’t laying all over each other and so I can see each one withou… Continue

June’s Spendthrift: Bag Borrow or Steal

Ok, so North By Northwest is currently obsessed with the Sex and the City movie. Our staff got a private screening the night before it premiered and let me tell you…it was just as fabulous as I knew it would (had to) be! Full of jaw-dropping fashion and style, like only Sex and the City could deliver, there were fabulous Manolo’s that caused constant drool from one of my editors and of course unbelievable handbags that I myself constantly kept wishing for the guts to pull off. Either way, the mo… Continue

June's Treasure Hunt: Eco-friendly Clutch Wallet

So this month how about showing off your eco-friendly style? Take a page out of the Ecoist’s book and invest in their fabulous recycled clutch-wallet. These clutches are made from repurposed candy wrappers, recycled newspapers, old movie posters, and more. Ecoist designs not only clutches for their environmentally-friendly line, but tons of handbags in different styles, colors, and materials, making it easy to find exactly what you want while being kind to Mother Earth. Thanks to Ecoist you get… Continue

June's Obsession: Gladiator Sandals...Sort of

This month we’ve been dying to get in the game when it comes to one of this season’s hottest trends: gladiator sandals. However, some of us here at NBNW are feeling a bit apprehensive about wearing so many straps, buckles, studs, etc. What if your style is more simple and classic? Can even those ladies pull of so much pizzazz below the ankle? The answer, my J. Crew junkies, is yes! We’ve scowered the net to find some simpler versions of the powerful gladiator sandal with all the Grecian charm an… Continue

June's "It" Girl: Hayden Panettiere

Our “It” girl this month is none other than the fabulous Hayden Panettiere. Talk about a girl we can root for: this lady won’t be found in rehab, jail, or table dancing at 4 am, not to mention anything super short, super low-cut, or any other such nonsense. Hayden has a surprisingly sophisticated style for someone so young. At the ripe old age of 18, Hayden has really pioneered the young chic movement. Even when shopping or out to lunch, Miss Panettiere is rarely seen in jeans or t-shirts, but s… Continue

Meg - here is a little trick that I would suggest. When you post blogs, you may want to set the date of the blog post. For example, rather then submit 4 posts in one day, you may want to set the system to post one blog per day over a four day period. You can post them all at one time so you do not have to go into the system on four days. The reason that I think that this is better is because if someone else posts a bunch of blog messages directly after you do, your posts get pushed down the list. The quicker they go down the list, the faster they will go off the main page of the site. My theory is that if you post once a day, you at least space out the posts and have a better chance of being visible on the main page for a longer amount of time. Anyway, either way is totally fine. Just thought that I would let you know the option. I some times post the same way you do (all at once), but when I remember, I try to spread them out... Again, it is up to your preference.

Hi Meg, thanks for stopping by and saying hello. Wow a senior marketing major and about to graduate and head into the real world hey! I too would love to work in fashion, and that's why I created my website at www.chicalert.com so that I can write about all things chic and the things the I find and love. I do it more because of the passion and if you do this and are good at it I believe you will get there. Best of Luck.
Best,
Sally
