Born and raised in the former Sovjet Union, but now living in the southern part of the Netherlands, Larisa Katz has always been passionate about art and the wonders of the world as she sees it.
For this collection she has been inspired by the mystical world below the sea. Fascinated by the amazing (organic) shapes that the creatures and vegetation in this world can form. For all we know prehistorically, or futuristic. But most of all pure in all it?s glory.
The modern day society tends to recreate and fabricate everything it sees and likes. These duplicates eventually loose their original form and intent. And start evolving, leading their own life, lives so different that have nothing to do with their origin.
Larisa uses different fabrics that express this modern day symbiosis of organic shapes on one hand and imitation on the other. Her creations start leading their own lives as well, as shadows in transparent designs. The heritage of former and still to be originated organisms.
With the transparency, Larisa doesn?t mean to implicate it as sexy, or feminine, but merely to emphasize the silhouettes, the fading of the boundaries of perception.
For Larisa the collection is timeless, not something to be labeled, but even more a form of art.
