FTC rules require manufacturers or importers of textile wearing apparel and certain piece goods to provide an accurate,permanent label or tag that contains regular-care information and instuctions(relative to washing ,drying,bleaching,warning and dry cleaning)and that is permanently attached and legible.

Do you mean the washing instruction labels? The care instructions, fiber contents, laundrey symbols etc., are dependent on the actual garment. Typically a testing lab may be needed to help you determine the proper labeling. You can learn more at the care label section on Apparel Search. You can find label manufacturers at the label factory section.

You can find information from the FTC at their label section.
