“Acupuncture evolves every day. We’ve always been about creating energy out of chaos” Phil De Mesquita
That twisted old bugger Nietzsche one said, “each man must have chaos within him to give birth to a dancing star”. Acupuncture is a star born out of fashion chaos. What began as a few mates selling vintage designer clothing and old skool sneakers out of a shop in Soho’s seediest back street alley in 1993 became one of the leading names in freestyle fashion footwear.
The brain child of Philip De Mesquita and Nikos Nicholau they led the emerging ‘urban’ trend in the mid nineties. One of the first ideas was to customize some 70’s-style running shoes which led to the likes of Naomie and Kate picking their way through the varity of styles on offer.
As the brand grew, Acupuncture continually rebelled against the very hand that fed it, pop-culture, by creating such iconic styles as Beefer & Gingypok which secured Acupuncture’s name into histories hall of fame.
Again in the back streets of Soho; Acupuncture has been re-born.
With apparel to compliment footwear an inspired collection has been incarnated using a collage of myriad influences taken from the heart of street culture. Elements harking back to the brands heritage combined with influences that can be, vintage, designer, cult or high street product are mixed together, creating a truly commercial yet quirky collection.
This variety makes Acupuncture as relevant today as it ever has been and once again sums up the brands ethos; Creating Energy out of Chaos
