Perhaps, you are in your 40s. Maybe, you are still young but imagine yourself aging soon. Will it still make sense to shop in those trendy fashion stores?

In beauty and fashion, you are never too old. You just need to dress smart. Do not be afraid to look your best. Beautify your hair and clothes. Show your best foot forward. As what Kate Spade, founder of one of the biggest American fashion houses, said, “Playing dress-up begins at the age of five and never truly ends.”

After reading this guide, you will know exactly what kind of clothes to wear at a mature age.

1. Age-free clothing. Look for fashion that goes out of your usual routine. You want to find something you will feel good in. Think ‘age free’, not ‘age appropriate’.  You may want to do your changes slowly if you are not feeling bold. Perhaps you are even ready to make major style changes.

2. Volume is good. Bigger is better, but it has limits. This means when wearing bigger clothing, limit it to only the upper or lower of what you are wearing. Also, your preference matters on which part should be bigger. If you want to have a breather when leaning, you want to replace your tight jeans with:

a)Ankle cropped jeans; wide legged

b)Zippered jeans that’s tailored for a slouchy outline

c)Pleated skirts

Just make sure your top is tight fit to stay chic. Alternatively, you can choose to make your top roomy. Some options for you include spacious sleeves (flared wrists) and (insert one more option).

3. Know when enough is. You have to know when enough is enough. This means you have to make choices regarding which trend you follow. Do not pile them off together in one go. For instance, you may want to try a ruffled blouse and midi skirt with suede pumps. You want to limit your combination with your neutral hues instead of wild colors. You will intuitively know when to settle for your combination.

4. Focus on one collectible. Focus on only one signature accessory. Do not over do it with more variations. For instance, wear stacked bracelets, and no other accessory. Other chic bets are colorful scarves, necklaces and shoes. These accessories are easy to blend with the right style of clothing too.

5. Follow your gut. Do not wear anything that makes you uncomfortable. This information is basic, but some try to wear something they don’t like to look ‘great’. Do not do this. Also, decide on how much of your skin you want to expose.

If off-shoulder numbers aren’t you style, you want to minimize your exposure with a fetching V-neck and so on. Are you also uncomfortable with your legs or ankles? Try new styles such as metallic mules in contrast to ankle strapped flats. You do not have to follow every trend you find. Other tips include changing your usual nail polish color to a rose gold.

Final Words

With that said, follow your gut and fashion sense. No one is ever ‘too old’ to focus on beauty and fashion. Women should be feel good about what they wear. This gives us the sense of pride we all deserve.
