when are we as Americans going to get smart & begin to bring back the clothing manufacturing to the US?.. to empower us,our people, our next generation. While the other countries get rich, we think we get a bargain....NOT..... in the end we (Americans) will lose, and big time. So i ask what are we gonna do? just sit back and let it happen? does anyone care about this issue?

There are many problems is the United states. As the US is the 2nd largest producer in the world,Which is its strength, but USA outsourcing the cloths manufacturing and distribution from all over Asia in the whole world as well as in the States. The problem is not the producing of cloths in house or out,but the problem is in the policies of the United States.keep a look at it.

I certainly do care about this issue! I too have blogged concerning this very issue. I find that a few of the problems we face are: As new designers entering into tne fashion arena, we can only afford to start off having a small quanity of items made, so begins the search to find someone to make our designs, which will probably be a good seamstress who works from home.
As business starts growing, we need larger quantities made, and we have out grown the At home seamstress, but even finding a manufacturer here in the states that will give you a price you can afford is next to impossible! So yes, we care, but again what are we gonna do??

witness what has happened to the garment district in manhattan.
it's a shell of its former self.
the showrooms only have a receptionist a rail of clothing and an absence of any other personnel.
everything has been outsourced to china.
even tech packs are being outsourced to india.
in a sense the industry brought about its own implosion because of greed.

those at the top will never be touched.

those at the bottom willing to work minimum wage or less ( interns) will be fine.
those in the middle are pushed and shut out of jobs.
it would take a serious effort on everyone's part to implement change.
if surcharges and hefty fines were imposed on the companies who continue to outource, then a change might occur.
until then..all has been lost..literally.
they have their ' save the garment district' rallies every year,
they wera t-shirts and carry signs and make a big noise..but so far NO ONE has heard them.
