why study something that you already know how to do ?

I am a designer by hobbie and want to do it as a profetion, but everyone tells me that i need study it before i do anything but what they dont know is that most of the designer havent studied it like tommy hilfiger he started off at school styling his friends and kids in the nieborhood and he got enough money together to open his own store and now he is a world wide label. So that prooves that you dont need to study it to do it... That is what i know

Hi Ayia,
It's true that a FEW designers have made it in the industry without formal training, however this is only a very small percentage out of a huge pool of designers working in industry. The vast majority of designers DO have training. This is a hugely competitive industry, therefore you will be at a disadvantage if you don't have a qualification in design. Apart from anything else, you will obviously learn a great deal that you don't know already - you can't know everything about design before you have worked in the industry, or at least spent a couple of years on a course. Those who have gone down this route - even people like Hilfiger - have made many mistakes along the way, and learned by trial and error - so why not minimize the risk of failing, by being trained properly? I've been in fashion recruitment for 8 years, and trust me, most designers have studied at university...

More and more today, you need a degree for anything you do. I disagree that Fashion design is a hobbie. It is a profession, a business, and a very competitive one.
If you have a lot of money to waste, go venture, but results might not be what you expect. Good luck.
