What to Look for When Buying Fashionable Shoes

Do you know what, some of us are not born with a natural sense of fashion, and that’s fine, because we can learn. The internet has opened the world of learning up to all of us, even the fashionably ignorant.

Today, we are going to help you to expand on your knowledge of fashion. Below, we have provided you with some fantastic tips to help you understand the type of quality that set a shoe apart in terms of fashion.

Tip 1: Choose a Slim Fitting Shoe

When it comes to feminine fashion, it’s always about flattering the frame and emphasising the natural curve of the body. This is true as much for shoes as it is for any other type of clothing.

In terms of shoes, slim fits are the best. They contour your foot, flaring out at the heel, in at the arch, and back out at the toe: this is the hourglass look, but for feet.

When choosing a new pair of shoes, go for those that show off the natural curvature of the foot – chunky, large, shoes are out. They have their place, but in alternative fashions. If you're looking for a classic look, avoid the chunk and go for the slim. Ruby Shoo shoes are a great example of this look. If you google them quickly, you'll be able to see exactly what we mean.

Tip 2: Choose a Shoe with a Pointed Toe

This tip follows closely from the previous tip. This is because the pointed toe serves to emphasise the shape of the curves of your feet. Adding this extra slimming part to the shoe increases the shoes fashion appeal.

Another reason why they are so great, and why they can vastly improve your look, is that they are also elongating. They make your feet appear longer, which in turn makes your legs appear longer, which in turn is slimming. In other words, pointed toes make you look slimmer and taller, and approach you that little step further towards the supermodel look (although, let’s be honest, none of us reading – or writing – this are likely to be anywhere near their league. Still it’s fun to get closer).

Tip 3: Choose Shoes That Have a Point of Interest

Buying boring styles of shoes, such as ballerina pumps in a single colour with no embellishment, is a cop out in the fashion stakes. They won’t bring your outfit down by any means, but they also won’t pump it up.

Instead, you should opt for shoes that have something unusual, but subtle about them. For example, that has a fancy buckle, or two-toned leather. Just that little bit of “je ne sais quoi” that makes them stand out. And, if you're really feeling brave, you can go for a more unusual style, such as a pair of Ruby Shoo boots – just remember: the more unusual the shoe, the more simple the rest of your outfit needs to be. This creates a nice juxtaposition between the shoes and the outfit and stops you going “too far”.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading these tips. They have helped me enormously in recent years. People actually comment on my shoes now; it’s great.
