What to Expect for MAGIC August 2011

Each February and August, the fashion industry converges in Las Vegas for what is arguably the most influential three days in the business of fashion.  MAGIC brings together the entire industry for one of the world’s foremost fashion event, providing men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, footwear and accessory brands the unique opportunity to showcase more than 5,000 brands and 20,000 product lines to more than 60,000 attendees from 80 countries!

MAGIC is next week on August 22-24, 2011

Here are a few highlights for the upcoming event that I suggest you keep your eyes open for:

SWIM at WWDMAGIC: New additions including a swimwear runway fashion event and a new vibe that feels open and airy like a day at the beach. A host of exciting new exhibitors including Jantzen Girl, Bleu/Rod Beattie, L’ Eve, Raisins, Raisins Girls, Esther Williams, Bettie Page, Girlhowdy, Protokolo, Eskini Swim & Lounge, Heat Swimwear, Lea Gottlieb, Roxy, J Valdi, Lume Showroom, Maidenform Swim, Modern Amusement, Solis Active, Solar, Water-Water by Elan, Limeade and Modelos Deportives y de Playa. FN Platform: The new “Black Diamond” area to feature luxury designer brands, including Jerome Rousseau, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Pollini and Missoni, showing the growth of luxury brands. Valuable insights will be shared at the USRA Business Building & Insight Event. Additionally, FN Platform will hold an emerging technologies seminar on the footwear industry.

HEART OF PRÊT: In an effort to increase international connections at the show, WWDMAGIC has collaborated with Prêt a Porter Paris, the famous European fashion salon, to launch HEART OF PRÊT – a debut area within WHITE in North Hall, featuring new French and European brands.

Emerging Designer Launch Pad: MAGIC Launch Pad is a gallery of the newest up-and-coming men's and dual-gender designers who will be exhibiting their lines within a special MAGIC Launch Pad lounge. Attendees of MAGIC will be able to see emerging trends, make purchases from the designers and vote on their favorite new designer. The designer with the most votes will receive a free booth at the February 2012 MAGIC show.

Sourcing at MAGIC: The U.S. Department of Commerce and MAGIC are hosting an Americas Pavilion and Summit — "Sourcing in the Americas" — to highlight the United States and Western Hemisphere supply chain network. "Sourcing in the Americas" will showcase apparel, footwear, fabric and yarn mills, trims/component suppliers, and service providers, as well as promote business and investment in the Western Hemisphere. Obama Administration official Mr. Francisco Sanchez, Under Secretary for the International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce will be a keynote speaker.

RIDE Unltd. at MAGIC: Huge new brands like Hurley, Quiksilver, DC Shoes, DVS, Diamond Supply Footwear and Matix descend on a 4,000 sq ft. street course, designed and constructed by California Skateparks. Also, in their second partnership with Maloof Skateboarding, MAGIC’s “Best Line” skate competition will be held. A world record was set at the last show.
