What Should You Be Looking For From A Shoe?

In terms of your shoes, you probably put fashion above comfort.  This is probably a bad idea because poorly fitting shoes can cause many different problems. You might not realise that, but they can be responsible for a wide range of health issues, such as headaches, dizziness, and all the aches and pains and feel in your joints and ligaments.

Clearly, you need to be putting the health of your feet above the importance of fashion.  Fortunately, there are some brands that like to do both, such as Rieker and Clarks.  Whilst they might not reach the heady Heights of high-end fashion, they can still look really good and people won’t notice.

For example, I recently bought a pair of Clark’s ankle boots. All of my friends wanted to know where I bought them from and when I said Clark's, they were a bit surprised. They look great, but the best thing was that they feel super comfortable. They're probably the most comfortable pair of adult shoes I have ever owned.

However first things first, and you need to make sure that your shoes have the following qualities. Once these are met, you can begin to think about fashion, but you need to meet these things first:

Support: your shoes need to offer support in all the right places while being flexible in other places. You need to make sure that your ankles and well cupped within the shoe. They should provide support so that if you accidentally twist, your ankles will stay in place and you will not sprain it.  Your toes need to be protected from bending downwards, but there must be enough flexibility to push up. To test this grab your shoe hold but Heal in one hand and the toes in the other hand and push the toes towards the heel. There should be plenty of flexibility. However when you push the toes down towards the floor, you should have a lot of resistance and should be very difficult to do. You also need support if you have a high Arch.

Shock absorbency:  the sole of your shoes should the shock absorbent. This allows the pressure from walking to pass through the shoe rather than through your body. We are not supposed to walk on hard floors. It is not natural and it is not part of our evolution. When we walk on concrete, the shock can travel through the body and cause damage to our ankles, knees, hips, and spine. By choosing a pair of shoes that has a shock absorbent soul, such as Rieker ladies shoes, you help to ensure that your feet take much less of the Brunt of walking and that is your shoes could take this pressure instead.

Breathability: finally, your shoes need to be able to breathe. This prevents moisture getting into the shoe and developing problems such as athlete's foot and fungal infections. It will also minimise the risk of smelly feet.
