What is a Salwar Kameez?

Salwar kameez is an outfit that emerged in Punjab and Pakistan. The bottoms are known as salwar, and similar to loose pyjamas or pants and tops that are known as kameez is essentially a top ethnic type. The ensemble is usually combined with a nicely decorated dupatta, much of which is similar to a jumper. It is made of a wide variety of materials with a multitude of various embroideries and motifs. Believe it or not, a salwar kameez is a high-style ethnic outfit with additional features such as comfort and ease.

Salwar Kameez Styles

When we speak about the traditional Indian salwar kameez, the Patiala salwar is something that takes the core of the conversation right away. It’s the only one because of the pliets of salwar. A salwar or churidar with a kameez or a Kurta is the right dress for every day, right for every occasion. The top combined with churidar and salwar is known as Kurta and comes in a plethora of designs including mandarin collars or V-necks, square necks, frock style, Anarkali and many other styles.

It is made available in a range of fabrics such as georgette, brocade, chiffon, net, cotton , silk and satin. Multiple brands offer it like Sana Safinaz, Gul Ahmed, Khaadi, Zara Shahjahan among others. The fashion of wearing salwar kameez has given years of evolving cuts that make use of cuts, wants, tastes and even patterns in every other outfit. It was highly influenced by Indian film industry celebrities sporting such fashionable styles as Salwar kameez.
