Wedding Gift Guide for 2019

Before a couple heads down the aisle to exchange vows, they will often spend time setting up their wedding registry. This is their “wish list” for all the wonderful gifts they would like to receive on their special day.

Bringing a gift to a wedding is a time-honored tradition, but that gift doesn’t have to be registered. You can find a gift that will come as a surprise for the couple because they didn’t pick it out! It can also be something very personal. Bottom line: Do you want to be remembered for a toaster oven or for something special?

Consider these wedding gift ideas:

Antique Flatware

Silverware might be part of the bride’s registry. However, antique silverware is more of a standout piece. While a complete set is great, it might be a bit outside your budget. If so, look for one or two unique pieces that might look great when put on display. Think about what could work on the couple’s mantelpiece or bookshelves. Your choice of silverware could also be a practical one that is used on special occasions.

Couple Album

There will undoubtedly be hundreds of photos taken on the wedding day. What about all that time before the wedding? If your friends have a social media account with photos, then you’ve probably watched their relationship grow and blossom. You can pull out those photos and use one of the many online printing services to create a couple’s album. These sites make the process very easy.

Class Certificate

Maybe your friends are really into cooking. There is probably a place in your neighborhood that offers cooking lessons. You could also give them a gift certificate for dance lessons, too. You would be setting up a terrific date night idea and that could probably be something they might not think of on their own. That’s what makes it a wonderful idea.

Artisan Gift Basket

You know what your friends like. It might be a nice bottle of wine and a tasty cheese or some special pastries and chocolate. Whatever those items are, there is sure to be an artisan in your community who can pull together a gift basket full of those goodies. If not, then you can make it yourself. If there are fresh items you want to include, then consider presenting them with the gift basket when they come back from their honeymoon. That would be an amazing “welcome home” treat.

Gift of the Month Gift

There are a lot of companies who have subscription services for everything from fruit to sausage. You could set up a limited gift subscription to one of these businesses that you know your friends would enjoy. Be sure to look for a subscription that offers a lot of variety so that they get to explore all the possible taste sensations. You might even consider a few of the meal prep kits that are all the rage now.

Custom Map

Did your friends meet at a special place? Maybe they took an incredible vacation where the question was “popped.” Perhaps they have a great affection for the town where they grew up. Did they grow up close by? Whatever the spot, you can find a map to that zone and blow it up for framing. If you want, then “drop a pin” on the specific spot on the map that holds special meaning for them. This is a piece that they are sure to put on proud display in their home.

The tradition of giving wedding gifts to newly married couples is time-honored, but guests don’t have to stick to the registry. While pre-picked items are a safe bet, exceptional wedding gifts are more likely to leave a lasting impression on the bride and groom.
