Utilitarian Chic

A few years ago a surprising trend arose leaning to a more minimalist ,uniform-inspired, less fitted clothing dubbed ‘Utilitarian” a lot of fashionistas were totally opposed to this new minimalistic ‘make what you already own work’ take on clothing .Utilitarian style involves a lot of dark, neutral colours and more relaxed silhouettes. Nowadays utilitarian has taken root due in part to the rough economic times and some fashion faithful seem to be experiencing a change of opinion looking at their shallow bank accounts
Here's some tips to rock Utilitarian
A haute and simple way to achieve a utilitarian look is to put simple pieces together in seemingly effortless ways like for example a baggy light-weight pant a neutral cotton tee and a dark thin scarf and voila…UTILITARIAN
You can also use pieces  in neutral colors that have a uniform-like look to them…think buckles, tans, olives and dark grays. Pieces such as shirt dresses ,jackets, chunky boots and wide belts.
Utilitarian demonstrates the side of fashion that most don’t see often. Those being simplicity and functionality.
I Personally like the utilitarian trend since its more of a grab what you got and make it Haute. It can be like a saving grace on those days that you can’t be bothered or may not have the time to think an outfit through.. Just remember to make it haute
