Unemployment and How it Effects Personal Lives

How does unemployment affect personal lives? In this essay, we will get a grasp on how and what are the effects of unemployment in personal lives. There are definitely a negative effects of unemployment but in others they look at it in a positive side.

Most of the people experienced unemployment in some point of their lives. It is stated that once person is unemployed for long period of time, it’s hard to find new work because of unused knowledge and skills. They gradually lost their skills and their reading comprehension. It can also lower their confidence and assertiveness (Appelbaum, 2019).

According to study, the people who lose their jobs will suffer a lasting damage not only to their earnings but mostly with their emotional health. “Each day without work is a day without income, a day without income will increase the chance to have debts” (Appelbaum, 2019). This will cause social consequences such as loss of friends, loss of family respect and even lost self-respect. Mostly, it affects the father’s pride if they don’t have a job to feed their family. Fathers have nature that they are the head of the family and the head should lead and provide all the needs of their family.

Let’s see that in the other side there are positive effects of being unemployed. First, you don’t have to dress up and commute all the way to the office. You’ll also have a time to catch up with your love ones and a time to unwind to know yourself better. When you know yourself much better, you can start searching your dream job while enriching your skills and having a new one. You can perfect your presentations, interview skills and your portfolio as well (Chein, n.d.).

There are definitely effects of unemployment, but it depends on every individual on how it will affect their personal lives. People may have a hard time being unemployed but there is no need to despair. Focusing only on the negative effects will not help having a job, instead try to get pull yourself through the negative and get motivated to be on the positive effects. After all, unemployment is temporary so make the most of it is what counts.
