Top Sunglasses Styles for Your Summer 2015

8858636066?profile=originalWith the spring season in full swing we can look ahead to the hottest looks for the fast-approaching summer - and the runways have made it very clear what's in this year. To quickly sum up, all things '70s are leading the catwalks for 2015 you'll see throwbacks galore to the decade of suede and flares.

We can't cover all the hottest picks in one article so today we're narrowing it down to sunglasses, the ultimate summer accessory. And, you guessed it, the shades also have a very retro vibe going on for the year ahead, but there are also some modern upgrades to throw into the mix as well - so let's get down to it.

Style #1: Thick rims

This isn't a style that's particularly new by any means - thick frames have been dominating the runways for years now, but they've been more reluctant to disappear from the high-street. This year could be the year where nobody wants to be seen in thin-framed sunnies though, because chunky really is the only way to go.

Style #2: Retro colours and prints

Although chunky frames were big (obviously) in the '70s, they've been a prominent feature in just about every decade at some point, so it may be pushing it to try and date them. The retro colours and prints we're seeing this year couldn't be more '70s though and you can expect a broad range of browns, minimal whites and creams - as well as an entire sanctuary worth of animal prints (not real, of course) on display. Just check out the number of soft browns and tortoise shell options on offer from Karen Millen sunglasses.

Style #3: Bold, minimal colours

Minimal is another motif that fits with every decade, never failing to look impeccably clean and modern. Combine with the thick frames you're looking at this year and there's a massive space for chunky frames and bold colours. In fact, they won't all be minimal either - as long as they're bold, they're good, whether we're talking vibrant blues, greens, pinks or any other colour that instantly steals your attention.

Style #4: The shapes

Shapes are always a key theme for any year's sunglasses trends and this year two geometrics stand out: circle lenses and their rectangular counterpart. Again we're not talking about anything that has never been seen numerous times before (oh the cycle of fashion!) but the sheer number circle and rectangular frames this year makes it a trend within its own rights. The fact is shape is always important for sunglasses buyers and this doesn't mean the cat eye, temple or any other popular lens shape will disappear this year.

Style #5: Lens colour

Lens colour is always one of those styles that never seems to take off, but the catwalks have been telling us this is the year. High street shoppers don't always listen to the guide of designers though, so it will be interesting to see if they take off this year. The early signs suggest they might and you don't need much of a bigger hint when Ray-Ban combine poly blue mirror lenses with chunky, bold white frames and just about everything else you want to be seen in this year.
