Tips to look more gorgeous with salwar kameez

Indian ethnic costumes come in different varieties and one of the most popular among them is the salwar kameez. This costume comes in three parts – the kameez, the salwar and the dupatta. It is extremely interesting to note that there are umpteen styles in which salwar kameez are available. Each style is suitable for particular body type and structure.

Salwar kameez – popular attire with Indian women

In India, salwar kameez was mainly worn by women in northern parts of the country. But now this dress is popular all over the country. Right from a teenage girl to an old woman – anyone can adorn this dress effortlessly. Along with being worn for casual occasions like going to college or office, this dress is great for going out with friends as well as for attending a special function or occasion. Quite obviously, the design and style of the dress will vary as per the occasion.

Tips for looking gorgeous with salwar kameez

Whether you are going to a party or for some casual outing, you would want to look your best in whatever attire you wear. Here are some tips which will help you in looking gorgeous with salwar kameez, the popular Indian designer wear:

  • Choice of right fabric – It is possible to flaunt your curves or conceal your flab with this dress. If you have a great figure and want to highlight your curves, you should always choose light fabric materials like chiffon, georgette, cotton etc. These fabrics tend to stick to the body and helps in giving a slimmer appearance. On the other hand, if you have excess flab on the body, you can easily conceal the same by choosing fabrics which are little heavy. Do not buy salwar kameez in tissue and net material if your body frame is broad and heavy.

  • The length of the kameez matters – Many women tend to ignore this point, but it is quite an important one. If you like to wear long length kurtas or kameez, ensure that you wear churidaar with the same. Long length kameez do not go well with salwars. For salwars, the best height of the kameez is till the knees or slightly above the same. Nowadays, the combination of patialas and short kameez/kurtis is doing the rounds and lots of women are seen flaunting the dress in style. However, if you are slightly bulky, stay away from sporting the last mentioned style.

  • Concentrate on the work done in the attire – While some women like heavily embroidered salwar kameez, some like it simple and light. Decide the same depending on your preferences as well as the time when you intend to wear the dress. If it is for daytime use, lighter embroidery is preferred. However, if it is for an evening function or occasion, darker shades with heavy embroidery work just fine.

  • Right kinds of accessories – Just adorning the salwar kameez is not enough. If you want to look gorgeous and glamorous, ensure that you use the right kinds of accessories with the costume. For casual occasions, wear a matching earring and a simple bracelet. While going for parties or special occasions, adorn gorgeous earrings, bangles, wear dark lipstick, do some eye makeup and you will look lovely in the salwar kameez!

If you do not have the time to go to stores for checking out dresses, you can try stores, which sell salwar kameez online. Most of these have excellent collections of Indian ethnic wear for all kinds of seasons and all kinds of reasons.
