long with kindergarten and high school graduations, lately my social media feeds have been filled with folks getting married.

While personally, I’m not a fan of big weddings, I am a sucker for a love story. May and June are the primetime for folks getting hitched and in honor of everyone tying the knot, I’m going to provide my savvy readers with my top 10 list of best wedding-themed movies. Enjoy.

‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ (2002)

A young Greek woman falls in love with a non-Greek and struggles to get her family to accept him while she comes to terms with her heritage and cultural identity. This is a cult classic that never gets old.

‘Father of the Bride’ (1991)

With his oldest daughter’s wedding approaching, a father finds himself reluctant to let go. I dare you not to cry by the end of this movie. Super sweet and one of my favorites.

‘Bridesmaids’ (2011)

Competition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid, over who is the bride’s best friend, threatens to upend the life of an out-of-work pastry chef. Laugh until you cry, and then watch it again.

‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ (1994)

Over the course of five social occasions, a committed bachelor must consider the notion that he may have discovered love.

‘27 Dresses’ (2007)

After serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister’s side as her sibling prepares to marry the man she’s secretly in love with.

‘Runaway Bride’ (1999)

A reporter is assigned to write a story about a woman who has left a string of fiancés at the altar. Richard Geer and Julia Roberts reunite their romantic comedy magic.

‘The Philadelphia Story’ (1940)

When a rich woman’s ex-husband and a tabloid-type reporter turn up just before her planned remarriage, she begins to learn the truth about herself. Cinematic legends such as Kathryn Hepburn, Cary Grant and James Stewart make this movie a must see.

‘The Hangover’ (2009)

Three buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas, with no memory of the previous night and the groom missing. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding.

‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ (1998)

When a woman’s longtime friend says he’s engaged, she realizes she loves him herself… and sets out to get him, with only days before the wedding.

‘Steel Magnolias’ (1989)

A young beautician, newly arrived in a small Louisiana town, finds work at the local salon, where a small group of women share a close bond of friendship and welcome her into the fold.

‘The Wedding Planner’ (2001)

Mary Fiore is San Francisco’s most successful supplier of romance and glamor. She knows all the tricks.

She knows all the rules. But then she breaks the most important rule of all: she falls in love with the groom.
