Flexibility 

Fashion models often work unconventional hours, but they get more time off than in other careers. You’ll have hectic phases when you’re working long hours for several days or weeks, but after that, you get to enjoy your earnings and focus more on yourself. You also get to choose what modeling jobs you want to take, something most other people can’t do. They have to complete the tasks they’re assigned.

This, of course, also depends on how good your agency is at getting you booked. Most models will work with several agencies at a time and also build a network of influential figures that can help them reach their goals.

Connections

One of the benefits of being a fashion model is that it gives you the chance to meet people you wouldn’t normally get to meet. In the beginning, you’ll be mingling with fellow models, scouts, photographers, and designers. If you remain professional at all times and impress them, you’ll get invitations to parties and gatherings attended by the rich and famous.

Many models have several other career aspirations, such as acting, dancing, or singing. Modeling can open doors for you and make it easier to get into television or other forms of media. You have to learn how to get yourself noticed the right way and how to make the most out of our connections.

Travel

The best thing about becoming a model is probably getting to see the world. There are four main modeling markets: New York, London, Milan, and Paris. When you’re working for a major fashion show you’ll be very busy and won’t have a lot of time to see the sights, but in between commitments you’ll get some days off, and you can take advantage of being in an exciting city and enjoy all it has to offer.

Then there are the photoshoots abroad. If you have to travel to perform a specific job, it’s usually the client who has to cover plane tickets, accommodation, and meals. Before you know it, your passport will be full of stamps! You’ll be taking pictures in front of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, visiting the Grand Palace in Bangkok, sailing to see the dolphins in the Algarve, and skiing on the slopes of Courchevel.

The possibilities are endless, and most models perfect the art of packing a suitcase at a moment’s notice. You’ll get to experience different countries and cultures and maybe even get the motivation to learn a couple of different languages.

Learning New Skills

We already mentioned foreign languages, but there are many more skills you can learn while working as a model. You’ll be spending hours and hours with make-up artists and hairdressers, so you’re bound to learn some things from them. Then there are the photographers. Many models will get into photography and learn some of the basics to understand how to perform better in front of the camera. Since you’ll have periods of working long hours, followed by a lot of free time, your agency will encourage you to pursue hobbies such as acting where you’ll learn how to express emotion.

You’ll work with personal trainers and nutritionists so you’ll find out how to stay in shape the healthy way and you’ll learn about fashion from the best in the industry.

Free Stuff

Not many people get things without having to pay for them. But as a model, you’ll receive VIP access to parties, free tickets to shows, beauty products, clothes, memberships, etc. There are a lot of businesses that want to promote their products and services, and being able to show that this or that model eats at their restaurant, stays at their hotel, wears their clothes, and uses their beauty products will help them get more customers. Especially with the rise of social media, you will become an influencer by default, and you can even generate extra income through endorsement deals.

Fashion

By pursuing a career in modeling, you’ll get VIP access to fashion shows and behind-the-scenes insight into the fashion industry. If you reach the top, you’ll be become a fashion icon and be the first to wear one-of-a-kind luxury designs. Not every job will be for haute-couture lines, but you’ll often get to model the same outfits that celebrities wear to their events. Sometimes, you’ll even get these outfits for free after the show.

Money

Although it’s true that once you make it into the “super league” of models, you’ll be earning more than what most people dream of, getting there is by no means easy. This doesn’t mean you won’t find lucrative jobs, but you need to prepare yourself with patience for a few years of relatively modest earnings. Once you have an extensive portfolio, you’ll be getting high paying jobs for major fashion labels and cosmetic brands.
