Today, Queen Maxima and her husband King Willem-Alexander have started their official two-day long state visit in South Korea. The couple has a busy schedule and they already started their official engagements this morning with a visit to the National Cemetery of Seoul where they witnessed a memorial ceremony. The Dutch royals laid a flower wreath at the War Memorial Tower in order to pay respect to the lives that were lost in the Korean War.
The next engagement of Queen Maxima and King Willem –Alexander was to visit Park Geun-hye who is the President of South Korea at Cheong Wa Dae, which is the presidential residence. The President has prepared a special welcoming ceremony for his guests including the guard of honor inspection. After the ceremony, the representatives of the two countries discussed issues related to future trades between the Netherlands and South Korea.
The Dutch royal couple are expecting to strengthen the well-established trade ties between the Netherlands and South Korea during this state visit. They are mainly addressing the areas of agriculture, wind energy, high-tech innovative development and economy.
Queen Maxima, being the stylish woman she usually is, wore a very nice outfit for the 1st day events. She relied on Matthijs van Bergen, who is one of her favorite Dutch designers, to create the beautiful sand-colored dress, which also had a hint of green. She accessorized with a pair of matching green earrings by the Dutch Miccy’s jewelry brand.
On this state visit in South Korea, the Dutch royal couple are travelling in the company of Frans Timmermans who is the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Henk Kamp who is the Minister of Economic Affairs. It has been a busy time for Queen Maxima and her husband since they recently returned from a state visit in Japan.
