I am a part-time blogger who works a demanding corporate job during the week. In order to not jeopardize my career, I have decided to blog anonymously at Deconstructed Life. This presents a variety of problems. The first problem I would like to discuss is marketing the blog. If you are an anonymous blogger, I would appreciate all comments so I can learn how you moved around certain hurdles.

I have several friends that started blogs and were able to create an instant following by reaching out to facebook contacts. As an anonymous blogger, this built-in instant following was not accessible to me. I was able to reach out to a dozen or so close friends who I knew would not betray my confidence, but that was all. I eventually found a chat site whre young women discuss fashion and beauty and was able to publicize my blog there. However, growth has been slow, because I must rely solely on word of mouth of others to grow.

Now that I have grown and can claim a slight following, I still face marketing challenges. When I join a networking site, I must do it all under my nickname "Deconstruction." I rely heavily on such networking sites and leaving comments on the boards of others to drive traffic back to my own site. This has also directly affected the amount I make off of advertising (although I have seen a significant jump in the past week or so), because I have to wait for the traffic to come to me sometimes instead of using my real name to entice the traffic.

I will discuss Part II in my next blog post -- how to take self-photos while always worrying about identifying characteristics.

PLEASE keep all discussions relevant to fashion, textiles, beauty products, or jewelry.
