The Best of This Month's Party Fashion

Quattroporte Zegna may sound like a mouthful, but surely this car's name strikes certain aficionados as pure music. Such was the hope, at least, when Italian luxury brands Maserati and Ermenegildo Zegna teamed up for the recent unveiling of the limited-edition luxury sedan (with interiors inspired by Zegna fabrics) in New York City.

The gathering was more corporate than the typical Fashion Week do. Gildo Zegna, the Italian fashion house's fourth-generation CEO, was sporting a microdot-pattern tie and a dark suit; ditto Harald Wester, his Maserati counterpart. Mr. Zegna's was double-breasted and he'd studded one peak lapel with a president-awarded Cavaliere del Lavoro Italiano pin.

Lightly tweaked conservatism defined the sharpest dressers. Estée Lauder Group President John Demsey had accented his Anderson & Sheppard suit with a black-and-white Bottega Veneta pocket square, which he described as "a way for a guy to shake it up. It's like a woman and lipstick." On busy evenings he leaves the office with five pocket squares in his briefcase, swapping them between events.

Matt Lauer, meanwhile, sported a suit by Ermenegildo Zegna and—a very Italian touch—a navy knit tie. "For guys it's hard to stand out," the "Today Show" host noted. "This [tie] is a way to do that, and still seem conservative."

Among the smattering of stylish ladies were model Arlenis Sosa and beauty entrepreneur Hannah Bronfman. Both wore red slip dresses draped with leather jackets (Rick Owens and Acne, respectively).

Overall, though, the suit reigned supreme. "I feel comfortable in a suit," said New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who seems to be equally at ease in Maseratis. "I had two once. I'm down to one now."Also read here:princess prom dresses uk
