Summer Styles to Take Advantage of This Season

The sun is out, the flowers are blooming, and the last of the winter chill is gone. It's finally time to pack away the sweaters and break out the summer wardrobe. While some of the summer staples are as popular as ever, there are also some new trends that are particularly stylish this season. From the light and breezy to the bright and colorful, it's time to shake off the winter doldrums with some fun new outfits.

Bright Prints

Turquoise, orange, blue, and red—these are just some of the vibrant colors that can be seen on the catwalk and on the boardwalk this summer. Tropical prints and blocky, symmetrical patterns are everywhere, much to the delight of fashionistas tired of dull and practical winter garments. These bright patterns work as well on tiny swimsuits as they do on flowing maxi dresses, and they lift the spirits of both the watcher and the wearer.

Voluminous Sleeves

One of summer's most fun and most distinctive trends is flowing, voluminously cut sleeves. Adding coverage and sun protection to an outfit, while making quite the chic statement, these romantically cut sleeves give otherwise modern shirts and dresses a distinctly Victorian flair. They also emphasize the wearer's collarbones and waist, making them as flattering as they are comfortable.

Colorful Mid-Length Shorts

Gone are the short shorts of a few years ago. Instead, a more sophisticated and classic look is back, with a colorful twist. Rainbow mid length silk shorts and many other brightly colored shorts are lightweight and comfortable, but elegant enough to wear to a garden party or a museum. This European inspired look is flattering on women of all ages and sizes, and the bright hues will set the wearer apart in the best possible way.

Sexy Jumpsuits

Whether sporting plunging necklines, low backs, or sexy cutouts, the jumpsuits being worn this summer pump up the heat. Comfortable and stylish, they are versatile enough to be worn everywhere from the beach to the club. Though jumpsuits in some form or other have been a summer wardrobe staple for a few years now, the long lines and sexy silhouettes of this summer stand out from years past, and give this staple a fun new facelift.

Whether looking for something to wear to a summer wedding or just something stylish and comfortable to wear around the house, this summer's fashion trends do not disappoint. The bright, happy colors and stylish yet practical cuts are a direct and rebellious result of a particularly challenging year. Optimistic and plucky, the summer styles of 2020 reflect the rising spirits of the people wearing them, who are prepared to find joy in the season despite any challenges that arise.
