stylist agency

I have been looking for a stylist agent to handle my work.I have worked about 8 year as an independent stylist in Taiwan never had a agent handling work.I don't know how the stylist and agency work in New York and how they find each other?If any one work in this industrial can give me some idea or about your experiences of finding your agent?I am appreciated your kind sharing.
