Style News: Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's

Karl Lagerfeld will be designing a capsule collection for Macy's set to debut in September 2011. Sold online and in 250 of the mass retailer's stores, his collection will be the first in a designer series (Vivian Westwood, Calvin Klein, and Paul Smith are set to offer collections as well). The designer collections will rotate through their Impulse section every two months.“Karl Lagerfeld holds a unique place in the world of fashion, an icon who is the ultimate modernist,” Chairman, President and CEO of Macy’s Terry J. Lundgren reported to WWD .This won't be the first capsule collection for Lagerfeld (he collaborated with H&M in 2004, and has a Spring/Summer Collection 2011 with Italian Fashion House Hogan ) but I'm interested to see what he designs. His collection with H& M was modern & trendy (which the retailer is known for) so I wonder will he go that route again, or something more classic and timeless. What do you think of this new venture? Smart move or will all of the collaborations diminish the exclusivity of his brand? Lagerfeld is a fashion icon, so I'm sure whatever he creates will fly off the racks!
