Scott Barrie is just one of my favorite designers that was gone way before his time…. Scott Barrie was an American fashion designer known for his sexy matte jersey dresses in the 60′s & 70′s and sadly died in 1993 at the age of 52. Way to young! He died of brain cancer which is tragic beyond words. Scott Barrie, whose real name was Nelson Clyde Barr, was born in Apalachicola, FL of all places one of my favorite spots to go chill… At the age of 10 he whipped up clothes from his grandmother’s sewing machine and his grandmother designed for and dressed many big jazz singers. Along with Willi Smith and Stephen Burrows, he was one of the first black designers to make his mark on the international fashion platform. He worked in Milan for Krizia for 5 years. I just love this sheer black silk throw over, put on your favorite black slip and go.
