Patrons gathered at Marston Pavilion on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Friday for the first Nothing Could Be Finer Resource Expo.

Attendees were able to walk around the expo and gain knowledge from different resources on base.

"The event was designed to familiarize spouses and active-duty service members with installation resources and services by providing interactive displays and building a sense of community for arriving military families," said Jennifer Sutton, readiness and deployment support trainer with Marine Corps Family Team Building. "The event showcased what each resource organization offers and assisted current and new community members with finding their fit at this duty station. The expected benefit of the event is that there will be an increased readiness knowledge, and an increased knowledge of available goods and services aboard the installation."

GOWNza was a big hit at the expo.

"In the past, there has been a separate event for spouses to obtain one of these gowns. This year, we combined the gown event with a resource expo, giving our community an opportunity to receive lots of great information about installation resources," said Sutton.

Ladies lined up and patiently waited as numbers were called for the next group to go in and try on dresses.

"Participants are getting numbers and then we’re trying to get everyone to go in and try on dresses," said Yolanda Mayo, deputy operations officer for Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune-New River. "The dresses are donated by a wonderful vendor from New York, Mr. Moses, and every year he donates these dresses to us. Whatever we have left will go down to New Orleans."

According to Melissa Kenward, marketing specialist with Marine Corps Community Services, spouses can still get dresses at the LINKS building located on Tarawa Terrace until the end of this week.
