Fitting into the perfect style doesn’t mean that you have to be uncomfortable. In fact, when you’re uncomfortable in the clothing that you’re wearing, people can easily tell. To look and feel your best, you should be following these styling tips.

Dress Shirts

When it comes to wearing a dress shirt, there are a few basic rules that you should be following to get the perfect fit. First, the collar of your shirt should just graze your neck. Anything that constricts your neck should be thrown out as it’s not comfortable for you and it doesn’t look good.

Next, when buttoned, the cuffs of your long-sleeve dress shirt should just hit your wrist. When unbuttoned, they should hang over the heel of your hand, but not too far down your palm. Anything shorter or longer will make the shirt appear to be the wrong size.

Lastly, the shoulder seam should meet at your shoulder bone to provide the most elegant look.

Shoes

Shoes are a tricky area for many men and women when it comes to finding the perfect fit. While there are supposed to be sizes that run in sync across all brands, that simply is not the case. Sizes can change between brands, and even between shoe styles within the same brand. While you may have an idea of where your shoe size falls, you should be double-checking to ensure that each shoe brand fits you right.

You may need to go up a size or down a size in luxury ballet flats compared to tennis shoes. When you try on a new pair of shoes, opt for leaving about one half of an inch gap between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. This will ensure flexibility when walking or running.

Overcoats

When the cold winter months come around, you should have a selection of overcoats that you can choose to wear depending on your daily outfit. As with any sort of overcoat, the shoulder seam should be in line with your shoulder bone. This way, the overcoat doesn’t look too big or too small.

Your coat should be long enough to cover about an inch of your hands below your palms. You want the coat to fit tight enough against your body so that it can accentuate your shape. However, you still want it to be loose enough that you can move around easily.

Jeans

We all tend to have those one pair of jeans that make us feel invincible. However, it can sometimes be difficult to understand what the difference is in those jeans compared to your other ones that don’t fit as well. Each body type is going to require a different fit of jeans. If you have an athletic build, then you should opt for straight leg jeans. If you have an hour-glass or pear-shaped body type, then opting for bootcut or flare jeans are your best bet.

Understanding how to pick out the right clothes for you starts with understanding the key basics. You should know what to look for when it comes to finding the perfect fit for any piece of clothing. Also, you should have a clear idea of what your body shape is so that you can start picking the right styles that accentuate your body shape.
