Promoting Green Living With a Cykel Cruiser

All over the world, cities are increasingly becoming more populous by day. People are migrating to urban areas in search of jobs and better living conditions. And this doesn’t come without its share of challenges.  While increased urban population creates and sustains development, it comes with pollution including noise and air pollution. It also brings about traffic congestion brought about by thousands of cars in driving lanes. Moving around in the city centers then becomes the thing that eats up all your hours. And, we all know what it means to be caught up in traffic when you are needed at your work place the next second or are getting late for a class presentation.

Well, not for Copenhageners! Every single morning around 7 am, the city of Copenhagen, Denmark comes to life. More than 40000 Danes cycle along the streets. Imagine men in classic business suits, women in fashionably designed dresses and high heels on bikes in the streets. Add into the picture school children on bikes as well as parents carrying their children in cargo bikes to work or school. Good!  That’s the picture painted on the most popular Copenhagen streets every morning.

Copenhagen - the Cycling City

Copenhagen has been dubbed the most bike-friendly city in the world and not without reason. Over 70 percent of the people living in the city cycle to work, school or college in the morning. Cars have competition since cycling is, therefore, the most popular means of transport. Research shows that four out of every ten people living in Copenhagen own car and nine out ten own a bicycle.  About 12000 kilometres are thus covered by cyclists daily in the city. The transport system has well-designed and segregated cycle tracks integrated as part of the traffic design in all city areas.

The government has made cycling safe for everyone who hops on a bike to move around.  That means you can jump on a bike and ride from one corner of the city to another corner without having to leave the cycle path. You are assured of safety and less time travel compared to being stuck in a traffic jam on a car or bus. During winter, city policy orders that snow is cleared first from the cycle tracks before it is removed from the driving lanes. The only exception is car lanes on the most extensive roads, where snow is cleared the same time it is cleared from the cycling tracks. It’s no wonder 80 percent of Copenhageners choose to bike as a means of transport throughout the year. Currently, there are plans to build green routes throughout Copenhagen to ensure safe and green transport routes for cyclists.

A Cykel Cruiser in a Cycle-friendly City

If you live in Copenhagen or you are just visiting the city, a cykel cruiser can help you move around in the city. Whether you are going to the office, college or are just riding casually; it got you covered. It has several custom frames that can suit your height and comfortability.

Furthermore, choosing to bike helps promote a healthy and clean urban environment. Air pollution is lessened considerably promoting green living and who doesn’t want to live and work in a city like that? The best we can do for ourselves, our homes and our cities is to enhance green living both for our sake and everyone else’s sake. We can achieve this through cycling – means less air pollution and better individual health. Danes have used bikes for transport since the 1880s. Commuting with the bicycle was quick and easy – it still is.
