Stafford Braganza, National Makeup Artist, Lancome India answers some basic beauty questions on the ideal summer-monsoon makeup regime.

1. Should different products be used in summer/monsoon for specific issues?

There are a few common mistakes women make when it comes to monsoon makeup:

Choosing the wrong texture of blush: Remember during the monsoons your blush should be soft and complementing you and your outfit. Always use a cream or mousse blush preferably something that is water resistant. Keep the Powder blushes for the summers & winters.

Choosing a lipstick that is too dark for the monsoons: As an alternative, opt for a long lasting sheer gloss. No frost or shimmer on the lips. Keep the Lipsticks when the monsoons are over.

Use waterproof mascara during the monsoons, thus not allowing the mascara to smudge or run down their cheeks. Waterproof mascaras allow your mascara to stay on without smudging or running down your face.

2. Tips for longer makeup stay

Always start with good skin care. Choose a beauty regime that's right for you, and stick with it. Starting with a primer helps the foundation to hold on for a longer time. After applying Foundation, always start with cheek color and bronzer to structure to the face. Follow-up with lips and brows, and finish with the eyes.

3. How to stop eyeshadow and liner from smudging.

Ideally using a cream or mousse eyeshadow and a waterproof liner is your best bet. But in case you do not have these, choose a good eyeshadow base. This base helps the eyeshadow stay on and stops it from smudging or sliding. After lining your eyes with liner, set it with a bit of matching eyeshadow. This way not only will your eye liner look fabulous but it will last all day.

4. Is primer really necessary?

What is a primer? A cosmetic primer is a cream or lotion applied before another cosmetic to improve coverage and lengthen the amount of time the cosmetic lasts on the face. So I say it's a personal choice.

5. Applying a lot of powder regularly causes the skin to look dull and cakey. How can this be overcome while still mattifying the skin?

Setting your foundation in the morning with a loose powder is the best way to make your makeup on last through the day. To overcome the dull and cakey feel of over-powdering, opt for oil absorbing strips or blotting papers available in most beauty stores. No only does it absorb the excess sebum but it also mattifies your skin making it look fresh.Read more here:formal dresses
