The continuing economic downturn may soon become an up-turn for U.S. apparel manufacturers with all the over seas business making it's way back into the nation. That's great news for people like me because we're getting more business and great news for consumers because it means the labels they love have stronger futures. No one likes to have their favorite brand of jeans go out of business.
With the cheap full package allure of the over seas factories losing its luster people are making the realization that although it will make more sense to bring production home, there is a lot of work now falling on their laps that they have no idea how to handle. I've personally spoken with well established lines whose production people don't know what a tech pack is (technical blueprints and detailed instructions required for production). Established lines that aren't even able to get their patterns and markers given back to them by no name factories on the other side of the globe. More often than not they're kept and later used for counterfeit pieces.
Apparel Solutions combats the "full package" (full
price) by offering a "full package" of contacts and consulting to make the transition as smooth and inexpensive as possible. It's no secret that the cost of production is higher here in the states so by giving all the necessary contacts to our clients and leveraging their affiliation with Apparel Solutions they save big without having to hire a transition committee or team of dedicated production managers.
When the time comes for you to go into production; be sure to ask your prospective manufacturer what contacts they can offer to make life as easy as possible for you. Chances are they'll know just where to send ya.
