Omega De Ville - The Best Omega Watches for Women

Omega is considered, by many, a benchmark of watchmaking excellence. The brand has earned all its belts with countless examples of precision devices that excel not only in functionality but in appearance as well. Characterised by feminine features and a bold outlook, the Omega watches for women have conquered the ladies timepiece segment with style. One particular collection, however, is the crown jewel of the Swiss watchmaker when it comes down to sheer perfection and magnificence. Care to venture a guess?

The Omega De Ville

Omega De Ville was first introduced in 1967 with the vision to induce feminine elegance energy into a timepiece. Although it seems pretty simple and straightforward, the task at hand was way more complicated. The idea was to not just present the next big thing in the women's luxury watches segment. Instead, it was to redefine it all together. The collection displayed a pattern of classic designs and top-notch movements that made it one of the brand's frontrunners.

All that being said, you might not know that Omega watches did not launch the De Ville collection as an independent series. The family was released under the Seamaster collection in 1960. It was not until 1967 that De Ville got launched as a separate collection for Omega watches for women. The next monumental feat by the De Ville was achieved in 1999 when the collection got its first co-axial movement. Furthermore in 2007, the collection got the new automatic movement calibre 8500.

2007 was also the year of the Omega Hour Glass, a new series under the De Ville family. The series displayed workmanship never seen before. The watch utilised a sapphire crystal glass and a dial that made it trendy.

Today, the Omega watches for women segment is nothing less than a star-studded team. The collection has a number of popular sub-series of watches namely, Ladymatic, Tresor, Prestige, and Hour Vision. This family of timepieces that started off as a women's watch franchise took a step further and launched a sub-series of watches for men as well.

The Ladymatic

Out of all the sub-series of watches under the Omega De Ville collection, the Ladymatic is by far the best in terms of personifying the spirit of feminine grace. The Omega Ladymatic also happens to be the first women's watch to graciously embrace the co-axial movement. The co-axial movement enhanced the timepieces and made them more shock resistant and accurate. But what really made them click with the female audience was the charm that it exuded. The watch collection quickly made its way to the hearts of watch collectors and enthusiasts via models that especially appealed to the accomplished and adventurous women of this generation. The targeted segment of women who excelled in fields of politics to sports to business quickly started appreciating what the Omega watch collection stood for.

The name 'Ladymatic' was specifically chosen because it resonated a modern yet retro vibe. 'Ladymatic' refers to a 1955 release with the same title. The timepiece displayed simplistic aesthetics with small, neat, and petite dots on the dial as time markers.

Omega Watches For Women - A Proud Tradition

Another thing people tend to overlook amidst all the glamour and panache is that as a watchmaker, Omega has had a long-running tradition of superlative timepieces for women. Be it their first watch ever created with a central second's hand to help nurses and medical staff to measure the pulse of the patients or be it the groundbreaking fashion force in the form of the first-ever tubogas bracelet released in 1948 for the fashion icon Rene Gruau.

Omega watches for women have been around for a long time and they plan to go nowhere in the foreseeable future. These watches were meant to redefine the women's watches segment and that is exactly what they did.
