Two Dunedin teenagers have earned a spot on the runway at next year's iD Dunedin Fashion Week.

Stephanie Devereux and Taela Aitcheson, both 16, will walk in two shows at next year's event.

The pair were chosen at Dunedin's Golden Centre mall by judges Darryl McNamara, Alice Markby, and Sara Munro.

McNamara, director of modelling agency Ali Mcd, said there was an impressive standard of models in the competition.

"Although there were only two official winners, we are looking at signing others in the top 10.

"Stephanie and Taela both demonstrate a unique x-factor that is incredibly rare and we're very excited."

Along with the other eight finalists, Devereux and Aitcheson got makeovers at Aart on St Andrew, and were taught to walk by judge and model coach Alice Markby.

Devereux, who has won five national titles in rhythmic gymnastics, said she was really excited.

"I thought I'd be too short. I'm interested in design and looking at potentially studying that but I don't know what aspect."

Aitcheson hadn't considered modelling before, but was enjoying it now he had started.

"This morning I was feeling quite nervous but once I was up there doing it, it wasn't too bad."

iD Dunedin Fashion Week will run from March 12-20 next year.Read more at:evening dresses uk
