Nelsonians had a chance to see clothing from local designers on the catwalk as part of the region's first fashion weekend.

The High Low Fashion Weekend was organised by photographer Sarah Brennan, designer Brooke Strang and stylist Kelly Vercoe who wanted to bring a fashion show to Nelson.

The trio pulled together the event over the past four months with the support of many local businesses. The event was held at Bowater Hyundai on Saturday afternoon.

"All three of us have quite strong fashion backgrounds, Brennan said.

"We all know how it works, it makes it a lot easier.

More than 250 Nelsonians turned up to see the showcase. The event was a sell-out with only standing room left.

Emerging Nelson designers Lucy Georgina and Stelloco showed their collections and Brennan said she heard people say the young designers really stood out during the show.

Local retailers Shine, Stacey Clothing, Trouble and Fox and Sidecar also showed clothing from their summer collections.

A percentage of the ticket sales went to the Ronald McDonald House and Brennan said they wanted to do something to give back and chose the charity because they had provided support for Strang's children.

Brennan said the event had been a success and it was definitely something they hoped to do again.Read more at:formal dresses adelaide
