Motorists need to change their reflective vests

Motorists will have to replace the reflective vests in their cars, even though there is nothing at all. The Decree of the Ministry of Transport has changed. Since January of this year, vests have to be more reflexive and of better quality than the new standard. The original ones are good for the bike.

"The new standard brings more material requirements and stricter product testing rules. It accurately determines the photometric properties of the underlying vest material and reflective strips, including sizes, "confirmed Denel of D.A.S. Shelf that adds vests.

A new duty is that the vests sold will have to be tested by the notifying person and accordingly numbered accordingly.

"This is the application of European directives if the manufacturer wishes to indicate that the safety vest is mandatory. The Ministry has no option to approve the vest. People should, however, ensure that the vest meets the European standard if they have it in the mandatory equipment. If a vendor claims to meet a European standard, and it is not so, it is consumer deception, which is a matter for the Czech Trade Inspection, "Tomah Jerold, spokesman for the Transport Ministry, told Prado.

Standard here, the norm there

People have to check their branding when they buy a reflective vest and meet a new European standard. The old standard ČSN EN 471 is no longer valid. The warning vest, intended as mandatory for motor vehicles, according to the applicable regulations is the one which is marked with EN ISO 20471: 2013 and is marked by the Notification Person (Testing) and its four-digit identification number.

Warning vests that are on sale and are labeled with EN 20471 but are not marked with the Notified Body identification number do not match the new standard. Such vests are not approved and certified by the Notification Testing Center, and the manufacturer used low-quality and much cheaper material to produce them.

Old vests in accordance with EN 471 may be sold for cyclists and pedestrians, but the name "Warning vest" must be removed from the product, indicating that it is high visibility clothing.
