Memorial Decadence

Did you have a good time this Memorial Day weekend? I had a blast... but I have to say it was a bit too decadent...My fun started on Thursday with happy hour Blue Moon (well actually it started on Wednesday with a couple of Hitachinos and a Tuna burger) Then on Friday I went out for lunch with the office crew and had a steak with Cuban rice and yuca, for dinner I had Sushi (not the healthy kind) and Thai Donuts (washed down by a Hitachino again), Saturday it was Sushi again for lunch (this time with bubbly) and pizza for dinner...well you get the picture... It was a lot of food (and drinks)Of course this morning I woke up feeling extra guilty (not to mention swollen and blubbery all over) All the weeks of hard work and cycling classes were flushed down the toilet this weekend... and the worst part is that on Thursday I have my SATC 2 girls night out and on Saturday I have a baby shower (and a brand new dress to fit into!!!) So I need to detox fast! This morning, as I savor my delicious and healthy Special K, I started browsing the net for good and healthy diets that might help me shed the pounds I surely won back this weekend (I know there will probably be no change from here to Thursday... but a girl can only dream) I found the "3 day diet", the "tuna diet", the "soup diet"... and so on... but of course none of these are healthy (and truthfully they don't work either)So I decided to skip the shortcuts and go for the long and healthy path to a fun and yummy diet that will help me stay happy and in shape (hopefully on time for my b-day on June 27th) In SELF Magazine I found this 7 days to slim plan that doesn't seem too hard to follow (wait, what is this?...I just read there is no alcohol or sugar allowed... what kind of horrible torture is this?!?!) Don't freak out... a cupcake here and a glass (ok...bottle) of bubbly there are not going to have a huge impact... just try to cut those two as much as possible...This plan, created by SELF contributor Joy Bauer, R.D., helps you detox in a safe and effective way. Instead of providing so little food that you feel high, the 1,500-calorie plan gives you a sustained energy buzz, with its complex carbohydrates and lean proteins. Rather than swallowing odd concoctions that will flush you out, you get whole grains and veggies, which help move waste through your body. Be sure to give it a try and tell me what you think!I have to go now... I just saw a brand new bottle of Perrier Jouet next to the milk so I think I might sneak a quick mimosa as a farewell to my old diet...Have a great week!XOXOThe Style Hunter
