Loving Your Body and Embracing Yourself

As women, we can often find ourselves finding what we dislike versus like about our physique. When I came across this amazing example of what it means to truly love and accept yourself for how you were made, I could not have been more excited to share: Lizzi Miller, the shining example who’s comfortable in her own skin.Best known as a plus-size model and now for making a huge splash in her up coming issue of Glamour, where she reveals it all! Both literally and figuratively speaking! Lizzis’ dawning her birthday suit with no touch-ups as well as sharing her story with the world.“When I was young I really struggled with my body and how it looked because I didn’t understand why my friends were so effortlessly skinny,” she tells the magazine’s editor-in-chief Cindi Leive. “As I got older I realized that everyone’s body is different and not everyone is skinny naturally–me included! I learned to love my body for how it is, every curve of it. I used to be so self-conscious in a bikini because my stomach wasn’t perfectly defined. But everyone has different body shapes! And it’s not all about the physical! If you walk on the beach in your bikini with confidence and you feel sexy, people will see you that way too.”Personally, it was inspiring to see how truly happy she was in her own body. I was impressed with her organic comfort in front of the lens and the tremendous amounts of energy and beauty depicted in her photos. How many of us LUXies could take nude pictures and ‘feel’ that at ease in our own skin knowing they were going to be published in a National mag? Now I’m not just talking about those that are size 10 or above either, I’m referencing women of all shapes and sizes that wouldn’t easily feel as comfortable as Lizzi makes it look! Would you agree? So LUX Nation, we would love to hear how her story inspires you? Are these the type of stories that you would like to see more of in our media and magazines that shape the self-esteem of woman at all ages? What was the first impression you had of a healthy body image—do you remember where you were taught or shown that?
