I had the fantastic opportunity of being able to ask these talented designers a few questions.

Who is your favourite historical character, tell me if they inspires you in design?

We don’t have a particular one, but everything from the past inspires us.

What are the three most important things to you both when creating a design?

Concept, Culture, and Interaction between various disciplines

In what era would you have lives in and what modern piece of clothing would you bring with you?

Fabio: In the unbridled Baroque era, I would bring with me Bowties and a Redingot

Juan: In the 1950’s I would bring with me a printed Popelin Shirt

Elaborately winding and circling along a background of blackest black, the gold stems are resplendent, in the intricate unfolding of the rococo design. It catches our eyes in an almost three dimensional way. Our eyes are not on a celestial ceiling by Bernini, they are scanning the garments of creative duo Fabio Sasso and Juan Caro. The sartorial masters of Italian Fashion Label Leitmotiv. Juan, is South American, he moved to Europe some time ago and specializes in Visual art. Fabio, a student of Dams in Bologna; blends the relationship between art and fashion bringing together fabulous collections.
In June 2010 they won the most promising and talented designers contest by El Boton, for the Mango Fashion Awards. Many other accolades they have also showcased an accessories collection for Furla. I am not surprised. Their clothes are design masterpieces for many reasons, skilled paintbrush strokes seem to have grazed the skirt and dress fabrics bringing to us the imagery of grey hazy clouds and mists that envelope each creation. The “chiaroscuro” contrast encapsulates the shadowy landscapes of 1700 paintings. The greatest result however is in the designers choice of juxta posing, clean and simple lines and the clever insertion of contemporary elements which give the collection a fresh modern look. For a while now the British have been flying the flag with their ability to merge fashion and history. However our eyes a have now been opened by Fabio and Juan who take artistic flair to a new level, every Gothic background and every gold encircle is a symbol of talent and passion, and ability to present fashion design in whole new light, a light which shines through past days and reflects on the dreams and thoughts of the modern woman.

The opulent colours of this ensamble and the roll neck top give this look an almost futuristic feel.
